At last the wait is over. Brian Wilson has finally returned to the studio to bring us an all-new recording of his legendary ‘Smile' album. Following on from his triumphant ‘Smile' tour, the Beach Boys' mainman took his touring band and the Stockholm Strings And Horns into the studio to finally fully realise one of the world's great ‘lost' albums.
It's been over thirty-seven years since ‘Smile' was originally intended for release. In that time Brian Wilson has been through a rollercoaster of events in his life finally culminating in his mesmerising return to the live stage with his critically acclaimed ‘Pet Sounds' tour. Since that return rumours have been rife as to whether he would complete ‘Smile'. In November 2003 Wilson, along with original collaborator Van Dyke Parks and musical director Darian Sahanaja, listened to the original ‘Smile' tapes and created new material to prepare the music for live performance.

2011年秋、遂に「スマイルセッション」が公けにされます。長いセッションが行われたのですがアルバムは完成しませんでした。その後、復活したブライアンウィルソンによって完成されたアルバムがこれ！「ブライアンウィルソンプレゼンツスマイル」。初めて聴いた時には、感動のあまりしばらく動くことが出来ませんでした。それからの半年間、他の音楽を聴く気にならず200回以上繰り返し聴きました。遂には頭の中で完全再生出来るまでになりました。素晴らしいアルバムです。なにやら「セッションズ」の中から「ブライアンウィルソンプレゼンツ」の曲順に整理したものだけを抽出しスタンダード盤などと命名し、それを本物のスマイルとして位置づけようとする不穏な動きがあります。だけどブライアンウィルソンが完成させた「スマイル」はこのアルバムだけです。必聴盤です。2 people agree with this review
