この時代の録音としては音をよく捉えており、聴きやすいほうだとおもいます。演奏は驚くほど見事、一糸乱れぬアンサンブルの良さ、細かなフレーズもよく歌っており、音楽の流れがすばらしい。歌手たちも今ではなかなか聴けない最高のレベルであり、当時のウィーン・フィルも最高です。ワーグナー好きの方にはお勧めします。1 people agree with this review

おそらくただマイスタージンガーのみならずすべてのオペラ演奏で最高のレベルに達するものでしょう。完璧主義者のトスカニーニが統率するオケと合唱団の一糸乱れぬアンサンブルに、昨今めっきりさがった歌手陣のレベルの恐るべき高さも特筆ものです（私見ですがこの合唱団の団員が今のソリストを歌っても充分以上に通用するのではないでしょうか）。全体の音の取り方もきれいで言うことなし。この大曲でここまでの完璧な演奏がありうるとは･･･0 people agree with this review
