1982-91年デジタル録音。ピアノによるバッハ演奏数ある中で、その完成度においてひときわ高い評価を受けているシフのDECCA録音をまとめた12枚組。
しっとり美しいベーゼンドルファーのサウンドを基調とした、端正でスタイリッシュなそのアプローチは、非常に普遍的かつ親しみやすいもの。そのうえ、なめらかに進行する音楽の中に秘められたニュアンスの豊かさや、装飾音の洗練されたひらめき、独特のスムースさを持つリズム処理の心地よさ等々、いっけんオーソドックスに徹したと思われるその演奏には、実に豊富な情報が込められており、聴き込めば聴き込むほどに味わいの増す名演との評価にも素直にうなずかされます。

最近イタリア盤は音が良いものが多いと聴いていたので、店頭で衝動買いしました。（イタリアプレスがどうかは不明）確かに以前のＣＤとは音が違います。アナログ系の音で、響きがきれいです。ハーモニーの推移が好きな人、前奏曲が好きな人は、買い換えられるといいと思います。残響が少ない録音が好きな人にはお勧めできませんが、でも、ハーモニーの推移こそが前奏曲の本質なので、残響なしで平均率の前奏曲を聴かれても（弾かれても）、バッハも困ると思います。演奏はどの曲も良いですが、イギリス・フランスの両組曲が特に秀逸です。0 people agree with this review
