Van Halen assembled its first live album, the two-CD Live: Right Here, Right Now, from a collection of tapes dating from 1985, when Sammy Hagar replaced David Lee Roth, to 1993. Only a few songs recall Roth's days, and ten of the 11 songs from For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge are featured. Live: Right Here, Right Now deserves to be in any real Van Halen fan's collection; those who aren't devoted to the band would be advised to stick with the original albums. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine, All Music Guide

    最高傑作『For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge』発表後の最も脂ののった時期のライブだから、悪いはずはない。 スタジオ盤とも遜色はない。 ただ、いくつか気になる点もある。 ①長い　　 全２４曲、２枚組、２時間以上を最後の曲まで映像のないＣＤで聴きとおすには、ちと辛い。 ②第１期（デイブ時代）の曲は、カタルシスなし。　　 第２期のサミーには、第１期の曲の音程が合っていない。どの曲もそうだが「パナマ」なんか突き抜ける感じがなくなってしまっている。 （サミーが下手なわけではなく、単純に合わないだけ。） ③ソロは時代遅れ　　 エディのギターはいざ知らず、ベース、ドラムのソロはいらんでしょ。こういうところは、７０年代デビューのバンド故か。 ④このバンドは強いてライブ盤を選ぶ必要はない。　　 パープルのように、スタジオ盤とライブ盤が別物ではない。ライブで再現できるということは、スタジオ盤の完成度が高いと言うことでもある。 今は輸入盤なら、２枚組でも激安で買えるが、どちらか選ぶとしたらベスト盤を勧める。 これは、あくまでファン向け。

    ヴァン・ヘイレンの大ファンの自分としてはこのアルバムは最高！是非デイヴとゲイリー時代のライヴ盤を発売してほしい。現在のヴァン・ヘイレンはデイヴが復帰したのは嬉しいがサミー時代の名曲がもうライヴで聞けないのが残念。新シンガーはトニー・ハーネルがよかった。
