このアルバムで単なるハードロックのバンドというカテゴリーから、完全に世界的な存在へと変貌を遂げました。要因はプロデューサーのボブ・ロックであるのには間違いないが、①②で新たなる世界観を作り上げたメタリカの才能も凄い。その後のバンドに影響を与えまくった曲ですね。ジェームズの歌も上手くなり、バラードも良い味わいを出せるようになったちょうど良い時期にこのアルバムが出たからこそ、④も大ヒットしました。どの曲も捨てられません。この時代の音楽界の代表作の１枚でしょう。

まずSAD BUT TRUEのじっくりタメを持って、腹の底までズシリと響く重さにビビった。なんじゃこの音は？と。そしてUNFORGIVENとNOTHING ELSE MATTERSの深い歌心を伴ったエモーション。これがメタリカ？これが同じバンドが作り出した音楽なのかと衝撃を受けた。いま聴いても、全くその衝撃、感動色褪せず。メタリカはいうまでもなく1stだが、これはこれでまた別格。彼らの深化とボブロックのプロデュース力が産み出した奇跡的な名盤。

Top Audiophile grade Heavy Metal CD! Solid bass, Deep＆wide and thick soundstage. For anyone gets only one Metallica album, this is it. Never get tired to listen to ENTER SANDMAN.
