アコースティック・デュオ・グループ「スティーヴ&テレサ」デビュー以来、ハワイを代表するシンガーとして活躍。88年、ハワイのグラミー賞「ナ・ホク・ハノハノ・アワード」の「ソング・オブ・ジ・イヤー」を受賞。90年のソロデビューアルバム「Self Portrait」は、91年のナ･ホクにおいて「アルバム・オブ・ジ・イヤー」「最優秀女性ヴォーカリスト賞」「ソング・オブ・ジ・イヤー」「ハワイアン音楽最優秀楽曲賞」の主要4部門を受賞。日本においては、現在までベスト盤1枚(日本編集)と6枚のアルバムを発表。96年「クワイエット・ガール」収録曲「パフューム・オブ・パラダイス」がJALのCMソングに起用され、同アルバムにおいては、4万枚のセールスを記録!!デビュー・アルバムにして日本における人気を確立した。ウクレレの名手であり、ハワイ語で歌える数少ないシンガー。伝統(アロハ・スピリット)にあふれた人柄と歌声は、日本でも根強い人気を誇っている。従兄には日本でも著名なクムフラ(フラ文化の伝承者)フランク・ヒューイットが名を連ねるなど本物のハワイアン。
