訃報 Billy Preston逝去

シンガーソングライター／キーボーディストとして知られるBilly Prestonが6日、腎不全のためアリゾナの病院にて息をひきとりました。享年59才。
昨年11月から昏睡状態となり、闘病の末逝去となりました。ご冥福をお祈りいたします。
1946年9月9日、テキサス州ヒューストン生まれ。
"Fifth Beatles"＝「5人目のビートルズ」という呼び名をも持つBilly Preston。
『Let it Be』や『Abbey Road』といった歴史的作品に参加。John Lennon & Plastic Ono Bandの"God"（アルバム『Plastic Ono Band』収録）、Rolling Stones "Miss You"他の録音、そして70年代Rolling Stonesツアーにも参加。
この他にもEric Clapton、Sly & the Family Stone、Aretha Franklin、Quincy Jonesらとの共演があり、ブラックミュージック界に欠かせない演奏者のひとりとして長きにわたり活動してきました。
ソロとしても"Nothing from Nothing"、"Will it Go Round in Circles"、そしてJoe CockerやArthur Prysockら多くのアーティストにもカバーされた"You Are So Beautiful"などヒットを生み出しました。
