クラブジャズ系リスナー必聴盤
クラブジャズ・クラシックであるJoyce Cooling「It's you」のカヴァーで幕を開ける本作は、 Jazzin'park/MAKAI/THE LIVING GARDENなどの作品にヴォーカリストとして参加するアオキマミの1stアルバム。
キュートながら力強さのある、黒猫のようにしなやかな歌声とその麗しい容姿。
一聴して耳と目を引き付ける力を持つ彼女の存在感は、今回選曲された楽曲たちとの相性も抜群に良く、 また、バックを務める大石学トリオの柔軟なジャズ・アレンジによって一層引き立てられている。
全曲カヴァーで構成というコトで、「It's you」以外にも、SONAR KOLEKTIVの看板ヴォーカリスト・George LevinのムーディーなHouseトラック「Keep on making me high」、R&Bデュオ・ZHANEのデビュー曲にしてヒット曲「Hey Mr. DJ」など、クラブ・リスナーにはお馴染みの名曲たちが目白押し。
その他、Cole Porterのペンによる「My heart belongs too daddy」、007でも有名な「Gold finger」など、スタンダードなヴォーカル・ナンバーも披露している。
とりわけ本作最後に収録のJazzin'parkによる「It's you」Remixは、BPM120前後で走る、ほどよくアッパーなスウィング感の効いたアレンジで、数ある「It's you」カヴァーの中でも出色の出来。
クラブジャズ系リスナーには是非聴いていただきたい1曲だ。
