クリエーション・レコーズで共に働いていたマーク・ボウエンとディック・グリーンが2000年に立ち上げたイギリスのインディペンデント・レーベル。最初のリリースはアメリカのアーティスト、ブライト・アイズの「Fevers And Mirrors」だった。最初の5年間はスタッフも二人だけで自宅を作業場とし、ヤー・ヤー・ヤーズやマイ・モーニング・ジャケットなど主にアメリカの音楽をリリース。その後、ザ・クリブスなどイギリスのバンドとも仕事をするようになり、2004年にはブロック・パーティーと契約、大成功をおさめる。その後クラップ・ユア・ハンズ・セイ・ヤーや、ピーター・ビョーン・アンド・ジョン等、次から次へとヒット作を世に送り出している。自分たちが気に入ったものだけを厳選してリリースするという徹底的なこだわりを持ち、現在では「ウィチタがリリースするものは間違いない」という揺るぎない評価を全世界のリスナーから得るほどに成長したウィチタは、音楽シーンの中で新興名門レーベルとしての地位を確実なものとしている。（メーカー資料より）
