    フランス音楽史を紐解けば必ず名前が出てくるにもかかわらず、その音楽が全く知られていない、ヴァンサン・ダンディ。その音楽は、彼の外見からも想像できるように難渋なものだが、その渋い魅力を十二分に伝える素晴らしい演奏のCDがこれだ。代表作の一つに数えられるソナタは、40分を越す大作。ちっともヴィルトゥオーゾ的でないにも係わらず、演奏が難しいという、ピアニスト泣かせな曲を、マニアな作品ばかり録音するシェーファーが切れ味の良い音で聴かせてくれる。正直、この録音を聴くまで、この作品は駄作だと思っていたが、認識を改めさせられた。 ダンディの音楽が果たして今日において、再評価に値するかという判断は別として、この録音のすばらしさは称えられるべきであろう。フランス音楽をドビュッシーとラヴェルばかりで語ろうとする向きは是非購入されたい。

    山人交響曲はほとんどピアノ協奏曲といっていいほどピアノが活躍する作品で、初めて聴いた40年ほど前（マルティノンやミュンシュの指揮だったと思います）にはすがすがしい感動を覚えました。このデュトワ盤も演奏・録音ともに標準以上の出来栄えと感じました。
