　タンホイザー序曲が特にすばらしい。これほど深い表現を聴いたことがない。まず出だしの管楽器の響きから引き込まれる。和音のバランスが絶妙である。一流とは言えないオランダフィルからこれほどの音を引き出すのは、よほどの才能であろう。中間部の微妙な感じもとても良い。特筆すべきは、後半の盛り上がりである。弦楽器の下降音階に乗ってクレッシェンドしてくる管楽器には圧倒される。音量ではなく内面に訴える音づくりはまことに素晴らしく。聴くたびに感動する。クライツベルクが思いがけず若くして世を去ってしまった今、「彼は天才であった」という感を深くする。しかしペンタトーンに彼が残した録音は、どれも最高の音質であり、この遺産だけでも有り難いと思わなければいけないであろう。ほんとうに、出来るだけ多くの人に聴いていただきたいと思っている。

音楽評論家の故黒田恭一氏は、数年前の音楽テレビ番組の中で、クライツベルクの将来に大いに期待とのことを言って高く評価していたと記憶するが、本ＣＤは、その理由が十分過ぎるくらいにわかる名盤だと思う。どの曲も、堂々たるゆったりとしたテンポによる巨匠風の名演で、ワーグナーの音楽の魅力を満喫させてくれる。決して一流とは言えないオランダ・フィルにこれだけの名演奏をさせた統率力も高く評価されるものである。

既にSS誌では最高の録音の一つとしてと取り上げられて居るのだから今更、と言う声は有ろうがやはり素晴らしいものは素晴らしいと賛辞を贈りたい。しかし、音と一口に言っても様々な要素を全て括って言うわけだが、全てにおいて最上等な盤は滅多に市場に出るわけではないと思う。が、このSACD、掛値なく全て満点と言ってよい。しかし音よりもなによりも特筆すべきは演奏の素晴らしさ。こんなに豊かなワーグナーは他の指揮者からは聴く事ができなかった。名曲の名演奏あっての名録音。賛辞を惜しまない。
