1985年の作。かの70年代初頭に[Look at yourself][July Morning]といった名曲を生み出した名ブリティッシュロックバンドの本作は、その面影は見られない。しかし、ポップな楽曲に絡む憂いを帯びたメロディが最大の武器となって聴くものを襲う。今も現役バリバリの彼らであるが、本作の発表には時代が悪すぎた。こうしたスタイルに評価が高い今のHM/HRファンは必携・必聴の一枚。Grand Prix、Shy, Tobrukが好きなら一発ではまる。本作の口ずさめるくらいの優しさあふれる旋律を再評価すべきであろう。本作だけColumbia系レーベルからの発売というのも非常に貴重でもある。

ゼップやパープルは決してプログレ畑で語られることはないが、ヒープはハードロックでもプログレのジャンルでも語られる存在だ。この中途半端な立ち位置こそがこのバンドの不運でもあり、実力はありながら一流になれなかった原因だろう。メンバーチェンジが多すぎたことも成功を妨げた。ディスコグラフィーは多いが、どれか一作なら集大成的なこのライヴか。Gypsyのようなオリジナルよりもはるかに出来のよい曲もあれば、rock'n'roll medleyのように明らかな失敗曲もある。この中途半端さがいかにもこのバンドらしいと言うべきか(笑)
