アフリカ／マリ北東部出身のグループTinariwenティナリウェン。サハラ砂漠の民俗音楽に新世代のサウンドを織り交ぜ再構築、アルバム『砂漠のフェスティバル』に収録されて以来、World音楽ファンの間でも彼らの音楽性の高さは周知ことでしたが、先ごろ発売された2ndアルバムの好セールスを受けて、ジャスティン・アダムスのプロデュースによるデビュー・アルバムが今回リリースされることになりました。

新作『アマサクル』ではよりしっかりとプロデュースされたサウンドで愉しませてくれましたが本作は、まだまだ洗練されておらず野生的、そしてある意味では今以上にナマナマしいサウンドですが、この頃からあのエレクトリック・ギター+アフロ・パッカーッションによるブルージーなサウンドは生まれています。
