    チャイコフスキーのＶｎ協奏曲は、1980年代以降の「ニュータイプ」の演奏としては最高の出来の１枚であり、折にふれて愛聴している。録音も申し分ない。「ニュータイプ」と私が呼ぶのは次のような条件を備えた演奏だ。１．細かい音符がちゃんとごまかさずに弾けてる点で、かつての「巨匠時代」の演奏家より明らかに技術レベルが上。２．高い技術をもとに、速いところはより速く、遅いところはより遅く、とコントラストをつけた派手な演出。３．第３楽章のロンド主題の後の経過部の繰り返しをカットしない（巨匠達、および現代でも例えば五嶋みどり等はカットして演奏している）。４．以上、つまりは諏訪内が優勝した頃からチャイコフスキーコンクールの本選でほとんどの独奏者がやっているような演奏、ということだ。一方、ラトルと組んだシベリウスの演奏はシベリウスらしい透明感、清涼感と独特の情熱的表現を備えた正統的な名演奏である。「巨匠達」より細かい音符がちゃんと弾けているのはこの曲でも同じ。ただし、こちらの曲は録音にクセがある。ミキシングであえて独奏を強調していないため、管弦楽に埋もれがちになる。聴き慣れるとこれもコンサート会場の特等席で聴いているくらいの感じでなかなかよいのだが、慣れるまではけっこうフラストレーションがたまる。（カヴァコス、ヴァンスカ指揮ラハティの例の改訂版＆初演版の録音を聴き慣れた方には、あまり違和感がないかもしれない。）

    興味深いのは、今年亡くなったクライバーンがまだスターになる前のチャイコフスキーの協奏曲のライヴ。録音は50年のゼルキンのベートーヴェンのほうがに聴きやすい。例によってテンポはやや速め。カーネギーホールの公演らしくお約束のように第一楽章の終わりでいったん拍手が上がるし、終楽章も曲が終わらないうちに盛大な拍手。ミトロプーロスのロマンと怜悧さの共存する指揮が若々しいソロを支える。クライバーンはスタイルはもう確立しているが、後年に比べまだ少し青さが感じられる。一方、ゼルキンのベートーヴェンは堂に入ったもので、熟した素晴らしい音楽を聴かせる。
