　熱心な達郎ファンからの評価は二分されているようですが、シングルＣＤのカップリングや企画ものとして限定リリースされた隠れた名曲が集められていて、個人的には”もう一つのベスト盤”として楽しんでします。　どの曲も、手を抜くことのない達郎さんの音楽に対する直向きな姿勢がにじみ出ていて、決して落ち穂拾いされたジャンク品ではない、質の高さを感じます。本来ならオリジナル・アルバムの重要なピースになっていても不思議ではないクオリティーを持ちながら、タイミングが合わずに選に漏れ、屋根裏部屋にひっそりと佇むこととなった不運な楽曲もあったりして、こうした形で表舞台に出されたことに対しては素直に賛辞を贈りたいと思います。　全体的に”夏”というよりも”朝”をイメージさせる楽曲が多く、メジャー・アルバム収録作品とは違ったサムシング・ニューっぽさがあって、テーマを決めてオムニバスに編集する自作のコンピレーションにはもってこいのアイテムが揃っています。

発売当初はまだﾃﾞｼﾞﾀﾙ方式のCDでは無く、ｱﾅﾛｸﾞ方式のLPﾚｺｰﾄﾞとｶｾｯﾄﾃｰﾌﾟだった。ｱﾅﾛｸﾞA面はsparkleのｶｯﾃｨﾝｸﾞｷﾞﾀｰから始まり、もの悲しそうなﾊﾞﾗｰﾄﾞ曲ふたり、で裏返し。ｱﾅﾛｸﾞB面は2002年にようやくｼﾝｸﾞﾙ化されたloveland islandで夏のﾘｿﾞｰﾄを味わい、英語詩のﾊﾞﾗｰﾄﾞyour eyesで終わる。山下達郎のRCA/AIR時代は、本当に捻りの効いた名曲ばかり。今は 2002年ﾎﾞｰﾄﾗ入りﾘﾏｽﾀｰ盤で、高音質で聞けるんだよな。兎に角最高なｱﾙﾊﾞﾑです。
