今の音楽業界は常に変わることが求められすぎている気がする。でも、元々シンプルでスタイリッシュなことが彼らが鮮烈だった一番のポイントだったんじゃないかな、と思うと、彼らに期待されるものではない気がする。ずっといい曲を聴かせてくれたら、彼らはずっといいバンドでいられる。前作はかなり複雑さを増して長大化していったけど、その反動とばかりに風通しのいい楽曲は何回聴いても心地よくて素晴らしい。エポックメイキングなわけじゃないけど、すべてのバンドがRadioheadである必要なんてないわけだし、彼らは彼らの素晴らしさをこうして感じさせてくれるのなら、これは文句なく名盤だと思います。

'11年発表｡ﾛｯｸ史に光輝く1stの衝撃があまりにも強かったせいもあって､ｽﾄﾛｰｸｽへの期待というのは過度にﾊﾞﾌﾞﾘｰ気味で､'01年の革命をもう一度という空気が支配的だった｡だが5年もの焦らしを経て世に出た4作目をじっくり聴けば､ﾛｯｸﾝﾛｰﾙ･ﾘﾊﾞｲﾊﾞﾙの先駆者としてのｽﾄﾛｰｸｽ幻想はもはや遥か彼方であることがわかる｡ｼﾞｭﾘｱﾝがｿﾛ活動時｢ﾊﾞﾝﾄﾞは方向性が絞れていない｣と愚痴っていたが､ｿﾘｯﾄﾞな音から広がる多様性は､ｺﾝｻﾊﾞな形で進化するしかないと悟ったようにも聴こえる｡ﾚﾃﾞｨｵﾍｯﾄﾞの新作同様､風通しのいい途中経過のような感触の充実作｡

一作目のような極端な中毒性は無いが、それでもどっぷり浸れるのは流石と言わざるを得ない。全体的にスローなテンポの曲が多く、二作目・三作目のようなハードロックナンバーが無いのはすごく残念。Under cover of darknessは新たなリスナーを引き込むのには十分すぎるほどの出来栄え。総評すると貫禄の作品といった感じ。
