フィッシャー＝ディースカウは三大歌曲を何度も違う伴奏者と録音しているが、LP時代末期にはこのDGのムーア伴奏のものが定番的な位置づけであった。特に冬の旅はその前後にもバレンボイムやブレンデル、デムス、ペライアら様々な個性のピアニストとも録音を残しているため、選択に困るほどだが、初めて聴く人には、節度あるムーアの伴奏が光るEMI時代かDGのこの録音がお勧めだろう。それにしても世紀の名歌手のためとはいえ、地味なリートという分野で何度も贅沢な録音が許された60年代から80年代末までの時代は、クラシック音楽の最後の黄金期だったのかもしれないと思える。

ある意味で理知的で緻密な歌唱であり、プライのような意味での歌心は今ひとつだが、それでも引き込まれる魅力は未だ色あせていない。下手に叙情的に歌われるより、この引き締まった楷書的な歌唱は何度聴いても新たな発見があり聴き飽きない。ボストリッジが現れるまではこれを超えた歌唱はなかったと思う。3枚組で2000円というのは非常にリーズナブルだと思う。

私はただの「クラシックも聴く」何でも屋なので、ディースカウのこの盤で十分満足です。ドイツ・リートの熱心なファンでもないし、歌詞と首っ引きで鑑賞するわけではないし。名演とまでは断言しませんが、この歌唱があれば他は不要です。（それとなくヴンダーリヒなんかも持ってたりしますが…）たった３枚のＣＤなのに英語対訳付きの厚いブックレットと一緒にきれいな青いＢＯＸに納まっているこの商品は、持っているだけでちょっぴり幸せで、「ええもん買った～！」という気持ちになれます。私には一生モノです。
