　６０年代初期のオービソンは華奢で神経質な痩せぎすだったが、それから３０年を経たこのセッションでの風貌は随分ふっくらとしていて、正直あゝ良かったなぁ、というのが第一印象。というのも、この人、人気の絶頂期直後に一度のみならず不慮の災いに襲われ、人生すべて無くしてしまったような苛烈な命運に晒されていたからだ。音楽に関係ない話とはいえ、今でも寡黙なこの人のステージをその思い無しに見ることはできない。　ところがどうだ！このステージのすばらしさは！オービソンを支える「友人たち」とは、実は一時代を風靡した著名ソリストばかり。みんな人間オービソンや彼の音楽に敬意を払い、ステージでの共演を心から喜んでいることがひしひしと伝わってくる。１７曲のナンバーもカバー曲無し。すべてオービソンのオリジナル曲。これもすごいことだ。で、オービソンはといえば、ひたすら歌い続けるばかりで、余計な話はひとつもしない。歌以外に発した言葉は thank you の一言だけ。カメラアングルにいまひとつ面白みは無いが、音楽は最良、録音も最高。こんな仲間と存分に歌を楽しめるオービソンはさぞかし幸せだろう。そんな彼のステージを見ることができて、あゝ良かったなぁ、と本当に思う。　なお、私が買ったのはDVDは１枚のみで、もう１枚は同じ演奏のSACDだった。これも超優秀録音で、この２枚組は間違いなくお買い得。世代を超えてすばらしさがわかりあえるオービソンの音楽は「世界音楽遺産」候補だ。
