　The in crowd は35年ほど前，私の住んでいる地域のローカルラジオ局の音楽番組のテーマミュージックでした。グルービーな演奏は私自身のジャズへの入門曲となりました。そのあと，ラムゼイ・ルイスから，アート・ブレーキー，デイヴ・ブルーベック，・・・，マイルス・デイヴィス，ジョン・コルトレーン，ビル・エヴァンスなどとひろがっていきました。

ラムゼイ・ルイス70年代の作品の中では、Sun GoddessやTequila Mockingbirdの陰に隠れている感があるが、洗練度の高い傑作である。スティーヴィー・ワンダーの参加という売りもあるが、全体的にはルイスのピアニズムと、さわやかな④、ファンキーな③、ラテンっぽい⑤等の曲想の多彩さが聴く者を飽きさせない。
