バッハからマーラーに至るドイツ器楽(これらはやはりたいしたものだと思う)を中心に教育されたせいかフランスバロック音楽となると閾がなんとなく高い。フランス人にいわせるとフランスバロックではなくフランス古典音楽だそうで、中国人(こやつらは木に登った豚で論外)と同様お高くて蕃夷(？）の民としては少々ウザイ。同名のオペラクリスティ盤を見てみたが、バレに素養がなく、イタリアオペラどっぷりの身にはテーマが高尚過ぎてもてあましました。このオペラは当時大ヒットしたらしく本曲は舞台上演に接しられない人のために作曲者自身がさわりを編曲したものと考えていいのだろうか。フランス語は皆目わからないが、楽章の題名をみると、アフリカ人、トルコ、ペルー(インカ)が出てくるようです。どうやらインドとは実際のインドを含む東方(喜望峰周りを含む)の国全てを指すものらしい。というよりシタールやビーナの現実の国ではなく想像上の国々なのか。優雅なという形容がついているのでわかるように野蛮と見下している感じはありません。各楽章は終結のシャコンヌを除き長くても２分台で短いものです。概して威勢がよく活発で個人的にはバレに悩まされることがないだけ気持ちよく聴けました。

これは楽しいＤＶＤだ。序幕のプロローグと４幕からなるオペラバレーだ。ドゥ・ニースとプティボンの魅力にすっかり参ってしまった。ラモーの音楽は前から好きだったが、この映像が入ると全然感じが違ってきて、バロック音楽だが、現代の楽しい見世物の音楽に聞こえる。４つのお話は、(ネタバレあり)モーツァルトの「後宮からの誘拐」や「フィガロの結婚」に通じるものがあり、それなりに楽しめる。少し物足りないとすれば、バレーの完成度となぜか中国雑伎団風の振り付けが、優雅さの邪魔になる。シャコンヌの踊りと音楽は、とにかく癖になる楽しさだ。
