ラップという音楽スタイルはその昔から存在していたが、それがストリート・カルチャーにまで拡がったのは彼らの存在があったからこそ。3本のストライプが入ったシューズやウェアが単なるスポーツ・アイテムからストリート・ファッションへと昇華したのも彼らの功績。そしてサンプリングだけに留まらずエアロスミス本人たちまで担ぎ出してきた「Walk This Way」のヒットにより、ロック・リスナー達もブラック・ミュージックに引きずり込んだことは、ミクスチャー・ロック台頭にも影響を及ぼしたのは間違いなく、音楽史における必聴アルバムの一つと言えよう。サンプリングも含めたリズムとラップによるミニマルな構成でもこれだけのグルーヴが出せるということを、打ち込み過多の90年代以降ミュージック・シーンで育った世代に是非知ってもらいたい。
