    ミトロプーロスのケレン味と血の気が多い指揮は、いささか格調より昂奮に傾き過ぎとはいえ、この曲に合っている。彼が得意とした「エレクトラ」（ほぼ同時期の曲だし、アガメムノンとスカルピアのモチーフの強奏で始まる冒頭も似ていませんか？）を彷彿させる。しかしこの盤の存在意義は何といってもテバルディ。絶品の美声で歌い上げる（「歌に生き」のブレスの長いこと！）かと思えば「死ね、死ね、死ね」の三連発。更に追い打ちをかける終幕での「マリオ！」の悲鳴（ノド壊さないか、あれ？）は、オペラみたいな様式化された歌芝居にはやりすぎともとれるけれども、とにかく鬼気迫ります。ただ、美声だが一本調子なタッカーや何だか声が出ない（不調？）ワーレンは今イチで、その点サバータ、カラスの名盤に劣るとはいわざるを得ない。ホシ一つ足りないのはそのため。

    チェドリンスの歌姫フローリア・トスカ、ライモンディの凄みのあるスカルピア、アルバレスのカヴァラドッシがとてもよく、これでイタリアオペラという演奏です。オーレンの指揮がとてもよく気に入りました。また、アレーナ・ディ・ヴェローナの舞台公演というのもポイントでまさに大スペクタル。日本語字幕つきです。おすすめのトスカです。
