    200回は聴いてるんじゃないかな、2枚通しで。それくらい中毒になって聴きまくった名盤です。いまだになぜこんな途轍もない物が作れたのか謎です。

    殿下の発表した作品は数多くあれど、その輝かしいキャリアのなかでもこれは外してはならない最上級。 厳かに歌い上げる表題曲は例え一度聴いただけでは全てを理解するのは難しい。 収録されている曲はそれぞれ独自の解釈を持ち多方向から攻めてくる。 それらが発せられている中心がただ一人のアーティストが魅せたほんの少しの才能でしかないところにこの作品が持つ輝かしさがある。

    　生涯を通じた名盤の一枚どころか、アビーロードやサージェントペパー以上の評価をしている人も少なくないだろうし、実際にアルバムとしての完成度は上なのかもしれない。 　全編を通したドラマチックな構成、個々の楽曲の多様性と高い完成度、全てが天才プリンスの真価を見せつけてくれる。 　映画のごとくトーリー性さえ感じさせるこのアルバムは、現代のオペラとでも言うべき代物。例え、プリンスを毛嫌いしているような人であれ、このアルバムを聴けば、本当の才能というものにひれ伏すしかないだろう。
