    本作は６作目のｱﾙﾊﾞﾑという位置づけですが、実際は映画｢HEAD｣のｻﾝﾄﾗであり、さらに一般的なｻﾝﾄﾗとは違い♯2.4.6.9.13の歌物以外は映画で使用された音声をﾘﾐｯｸｽ･ｻﾝﾌﾟﾘﾝｸﾞした物なので、映画を(それも複数回)観ないと何が何だか全くわからない１枚です。なんて無茶苦茶な作りのｱﾙﾊﾞﾑでしょう。しかし逆に言えば映画を観れば全て―たとえば、なぜ♯９は前奏が50秒近くもあるのか―が理解できます。特に♯９は映像とセットでなければその素晴らしさは1/3も伝わらないと言っても過言ではありません。ぜひとも映画とセットで観賞することをお勧めします。

    さて本作の最大の掘り出し物はボーナス･トラックとして加えられた♯15。これは映画の導入部分で使われる、モンキーズの４人がまさしく「偶像」としての彼らを自嘲するような皮肉たっぷりのセリフを順々に繋いでいく詠唱のような曲（♯３）の、スタジオ録音時のテープをそのまま収めたものなのですが。なぜか知らんがやたらにハイテンションなピーターや、誰も頼んでないのにやっぱり１人で場を仕切っているマイケル（笑）など、なかなか面白い場面がうかがえます。

    さらにこの曲は①ﾏｲｸ②ﾋﾟｰﾀｰ③ﾐｯｷｰ④ﾃﾞｲｳﾞｨｰの順に台詞を読み上げる×２巡なのですが、録音中にどういうわけかデイヴィーがよりにもよって２巡目で（あと少しで終わりなのに…）自分の出番を忘れ。順調だった詠唱がぶっつりストップ→…一瞬沈黙するスタジオ内→「わぁぁぁっ」とミッキーが絶叫して沈黙を破壊。ピーターが騒ぎマイケルが突っ込む→「ちょっと待った、いや違うんだよ」と慌てて弁解する必死なデイヴィー、という何度聞いても大爆笑の貴重なやり取りが含まれています。このﾄﾗｯｸは本作にしか収録されていません。絶対押さえましょう。
