“ゴスペル・ブルース”などとも表現される独自のスタイルを確立し、60年代にモダン・ブルースの新しい可能性を示してみせたリトル・ジョニー・テイラー。63年、20歳の時にギャラクシーから発表した「パート・タイム・ラヴ」はビルボードのR&Bチャート1位（ポップ・チャートでも19位にランクイン）を獲得。その後生まれてくるモダン・ブルースの教科書的存在となった。
本作は63年、「パート・タイム・ラヴ」の大ヒットを受けて、ギャラクシーからリリースされた彼の初アルバム。オリジナルLPに収録されていた12曲に加えて、ボーナス・トラックとしてギャラクシー時代にシングルとして発表された7曲を加えている
