MCのマイク・シノダがプロデューサーの役目を担い、チェスターの歌によりフォーカスを置く作品を作りあげたのが、今作の特徴である。美旋律が漂う１ｓｔシングル「ワット・アイヴ・ダン」、メロディーに重点が置かれた「リーヴ・アウト・オール・ザ・ベスト」、「シャドウ・オブ・ザ・デイ」などは一度聴いたら、心を奪われる名曲である。「ギヴン・アップ」、「ブリード・イット・アウト」などは従来のリンキン・パーク・ファンも大満足間違いなしの、アップ・テンポ・ナンバーでライヴでの熱狂が目に浮かぶよう。アルバムのエンディングを飾る「ザ・リトル・シングス・ギヴ・ユー・アウェイ」のように、６分という大作もあり、リンキン・パークがネクスト・レベルのバンドへ成長したことが明らかな力作である。

マイク・シノダと2007年度グラミー賞のプロデューサー・オブ・ザ・イヤーを受賞したリック・ルービン（U2、レッド・ホット・チリ・ペッパーズ、ランDMC）の共同プロデュースによる『ミニッツ・トゥ・ミッドナイト』は、有名なローレル・キャニオンのマンションでレコーディングされ、最高且つ最重要作品として絶賛されている。

    1st, 2ndからの脱却を図ろうとしているのは分かりますが、そちらに舵を切り過ぎて拍子抜けしてしまいました。マンネリを避けるための意気込みは分かりますが、What I’ve done以外の曲はどうでしょうか？1st,2ndの中に見かける穏やかな曲調だけで1枚アルバム作っちゃいました感がします。勢いが感じられないのが寂しい。
