    黄金期のハリウッド映画の音楽を収録したCD。 サントラではなく再録音された物で、リチャード・カウフマン指揮、ブランデンブルク・フィルハーモニー管弦楽団の演奏。 収録されているのは、『王様の泥棒』(ローザ)『スカラムーシュ』(ヤング)『海賊ブラッド』(コルンゴルト)『三銃使』(スタイナー)で、いずれも組曲の形で演奏されています。 カウフマンはいくつかの映画音楽のCDをリリースしている指揮者で、本盤でもダイナミックなシンフォニック・スコアの魅力を存分に伝えてくれる演奏を聴かせてくれます。 1994年録音、音質良好。

    マルコポーロのフィルム・シリーズの１枚。 ハリウッドで活躍したコルンゴルトの作品から、『砂漠の朝』全曲と、『嘆きのプレリュード』よりバレエとファンタジーを収録。 砂漠の朝はかの名作、ヴァイオリン協奏曲の第１楽章にこの映画のテーマが転用された事で知られているが、ヴァイオリン協奏曲の録音は数あれど、こちらの映画音楽の録音は非常に少ないので貴重だ。 あの美しいテーマの他にも緊迫したスコアもあったりして、なかなか良かった。 演奏は、ストロンバーグ指揮、モスクワ交響楽団、採譜はモーガンとお馴染みのメンバーによる物で、演奏はいつも通り手堅いし、良い仕事をしている。 もちろんナクソス品質の録音なので、音質もばっちり。
