「マトリョシカ」、「パンダヒーロー」、「結ンデ開イテ羅刹ト骸」。これらのタイトルを聞いて、ピンと来る人もいるだろう。これらは”ハチ”名義でニコニコ動画にアップされたVOCALOID楽曲。その”ハチ”さんが本名の”米津玄師”としてリリースしたのが、今回のアルバム「diorama」だ。ただし、本名名義ということもあり、このアルバムには前述の楽曲達は収録されていない。あくまで自らが歌い、表現することで作り上げられる世界。御伽噺のような詩、キャッチーでありながらクセのあるメロディ、どこか陰のあるような歌声。それらは、閉鎖的でありながら、確かな生命力を持っているよう。特に、「ゴーゴー幽霊船」、「vivi」、「Black Sheep」ではそれらが顕著に表れている。米津玄師としてのファーストアルバム。ここから始まる彼の音楽に、今後も期待したくなる１枚だ。
