B.ﾌﾞﾚｲﾄﾞの参加盤を検索していてﾋｯﾄした一枚。ﾀﾞﾆｴﾙ･ﾗﾉﾜ、もしくはｸﾘｽ･ｳｨﾄﾘｰみたいなｶﾝｼﾞ?と思ってたら大分違っていた。ｶｻﾝﾄﾞﾗ･ｳｨﾙｿﾝの『Blue Light'Till Dawn(93年)』と次作『New Moon Daughter(96年)』の名盤二連作に端を発する、ｸﾚｲｸﾞ･ｽﾄﾘｰﾄの音作りの系譜(ﾘｽﾞ･ﾗｲﾄ、ﾐｼｪﾙ･ﾝﾃﾞｹﾞｵﾁｪﾛ、kdﾗﾝｸﾞ、ﾎﾙﾑｽﾞ･ﾌﾞﾗｻﾞｰｽﾞ、ｼﾞｪﾌﾞﾛｲ･ﾆｺﾙｽ、ｼﾞｭﾋﾞﾗﾝﾄ･ｻｲｸｽ、ﾁｮｺﾚｰﾄ･ｼﾞﾆｱｽ…)に、連なるｻｳﾝﾄﾞー曰く、ﾌﾞﾙｰｽ、ｼﾞｬｽﾞ、ｺﾞｽﾍﾟﾙ等のｱﾒﾘｶ伝統音楽を｢現代の音｣へと再構築したかのような懐かしくも斬新なｻｳﾝﾄﾞが、鳴る。凝りまくって作り込んだ音の闇に、鈍い光沢を放つ生音が響き渡り、うらぶれた･苦み走った世界観を演出する。正直好きな声じゃないけれど、良く出来た楽曲と佇まいの格好よさで一気に聴かせる。このｸｵﾘﾃｨにして未だに国内盤が出ないﾏｲﾅｰっぷりもｲｶす(笑)。異色の参加ﾒﾝﾊﾞｰ(下述※)は、ｵｰﾈｯﾄの招聘が決まってそのﾊﾞﾗﾝｽ･対応が出来るように固めた布陣なのかもしれない。御大以外は、ｵｰｹｽﾄﾗ含め割合控え目な演奏に終始する。　※Brad Mehldau(p), Me'shell Ndegeocello(b), Mark Ribot(g), Brian Blade(ds), Ornette Caleman(alto sax)他。
