ジェイムス・テイラーの最高作と評したい。最高傑作と書かないのは、一つ一つの曲ではほかのアルバムのキャッチーな曲に及ばないし、最高傑作と断言したのでは、いかにも個人レベルの好みに終わっているように受け取られるのがもったいないからだ。このアルバムは非常に短い曲がいっぱい入っていて、セクションがバッキングをしているのもあれば名うてのスタジオミュージシャンが仕事をしている曲もあったり、バラエティに富んでいる。しかし、そのいろいろな曲が、意識的なのか、奇跡的なのかわからないが、見事な統一感を持って「羅列」されているのだ。ポップスの歴史でもまれにみる曲の並び方だと思う。その上、アコースティック楽器の音色がひたすら格調高く、確かな技術に裏付けされたサウンド的にも大推薦盤だ。
