ジャズ？クラシック？　・・・。一番楽しんでいるのはスピーカーの前の我々ではなく演奏者ご本人では。

才能とはやはり恐ろしいもので、彼の弾くバッハの”Preludes,Fughettas and Fugues” 同様の、抜群の面白さ溢れる演奏です。音やリズムが水を得た魚の様に飛び跳ねてキラキラと空中に舞っています。どうも他の人の名演も私の中では色褪せてしまいました。まさにグールド恐るべしです。

いかにもグールドらしい超個性的な名演だ。第５６番や第５８番の第１楽章の極端なスローテンポと、それに続く終楽章の快速テンポの見事な対比。偉大な傑作である第５９番の水を得た魚のような生命力溢れる打鍵の嵐。３大ピアノソナタの緩急自在のテンポを駆使した自由闊達な表現の巧みさ。モーツァルトのピアノソナタでは、ごつごつしたいささか不自然な表現も見られたが、本盤におさめられたハイドンのピアノソナタでは、そうした不自然さを感じさせるような表現はほとんど見られない。グールドの死は、本盤の収録後まもなく訪れることになるが、正に、グールド畢生の名演と言っても過言ではないと思われる。Blu-spec-CDの音質は、いつもながら鮮明で素晴らしい。
