    ケベックから舞い降りた青い瞳のアニソンシンガーＨＩＭＥＫＡ、堂々のデビューシングル。学生時代、内気で人見知りの激しい彼女は学園祭で皆が歌に、踊りに興じるのを見て憧れつつも、「下手だ」「面白くない」と言われたらどうしようという思いから舞台に上がれなかったそうだ。いつかは自分も…と胸に想いを秘めながら、ずっとカラオケ店や自室に篭って大勢の前で唄う日を夢に見て育ったと述懐している。そして、いつしかその気持ちは抑えられないものになり、単身来日。わずか半年でデビューのチャンスを勝ち取り、その翌年の四月には晴れてプロとしての第一歩を踏み出す。とてもこれが来日して半年のカナダ人とは思えない流暢な日本語（音を頼りにしているだけでは判別は不可能と言っても過言ではない）と、群を抜く歌唱力で大きな注目を集めた。そして、今と当時を比較して人一倍努力家の彼女の成長度合い実感する上でも、このデビュー作に耳を傾けてみることを推奨する。驚愕すべきことに、プロになるここまで全て独学で語学を習得し、歌の腕を我流で磨いてきたということ。いったいどれほどの才能がまだ彼女に眠っているのか？そうワクワクさせてくれる本物の歌手である。ＨＩＭＥＫＡ、この名前を目にする度にそう思うであろう。彼女から目が離せない。

    元々、群を抜いた歌唱力で定評であった彼女が更に日本語の能力が向上したことにより、表現力が増した素晴らしい出来となっている。外国人として外国語の日本語の壁があるだけに、豊かな感性と鋭い洞察力をフルに働かせて作品を読み込んでレコーディングに挑むと言われている。原作があるある主題化となっているならばそれを徹底的に目を通し、時には原作者との会話の中からテーマを理解する。また、作詞作曲家との度重なる打ち合わせから込められた想いを受け止める。それらを胸に秘めていざ収録マイクに向かって出来上がった新曲。どれもこれも臨場感溢れる仕上がりとなっている。二曲目のロック調なものは、普段のおとなしくて可愛いらしい容姿からは想像できない熱く激しいものとなっており、そうかとおもえば、三曲目のバラードではまるで彼女の腕の中に抱かれているかのように静かな時が流れる。先日の新曲イベントでは、世界観を再現・表現しようとして余りに曲の世界に入り込んでしまい、その中の主人公と自分がシンクロしてしまい涙を流しながらも歌い上げた。正に歌手が歌い手であり、演じ手であり、表現者であることを体現しているＨＩＭＥＫＡだからこそ成し得ると言える。プロの歌手とはいかようのものなのかと問われれば、間違いなく彼女をオススメする。
