    グリーグのヴァイオリンソナタはぜひ全曲盤でお持ちになることをお勧めする。３曲ともそれぞれに違った魅力のある佳曲だからだ。この盤は演奏水準の高さ、録音の鮮明さ、価格の安さ、あらゆる点で自信をもってお薦めできる。もう少ししっとりした表現をお望みならデュメイ、ピリス盤がリーズナブルな価格に下がっているのでそちらをお選びになるのもよいだろう。

    本盤は1999年ティボーデ(当時38歳)とゲルギエフ(同46歳)という一見容貌も演奏も対照的な演奏家の共演・・・オーケストラはロッテルダムPO・・・によるグリーグ・ピアノ協奏曲(タイム①12’32②6’41③10’33)とショパン・ピアノ協奏曲第2番(同①14’27②9’47③8’17)の収録盤であります。グリーグの方は北欧の民族性を反映すべくゲルギエフの若干暑苦しいドラマチックなアプローチにピアノが引き回された感があり第1楽章からねっとり音色もサウンド豊かに線太く進みます。管楽器を引っ張って目立たせる処も特徴的。重戦車の様な最終楽章での劇場型ゲルギエフ節も「空回り」と思われるギリギリな感じであります。ショパンの方はゲルギエフのやや濃い個性的表現は抑制されティボーデの洗練性と技巧が生きた演奏となって第1楽章からショパンの抒情性が巧く引き出されて雷喝のピアノの入りも効果充分と思います。ややダルめの感じの中間楽章も聴きこむとピアノ方は中々繊細でロマンチックな本領発揮かと思いました。最終楽章はゲルギエフの骨太さが少し表に出た印象も無きにしも非ずでしたがそれも一つの演奏で許せる範囲におさまっております。まぁ、いずれにしても両曲とも丁々発止という演奏ではなく今述べた様なコラボレーションとなった演奏であります。当面OKランクから入ります。(タイムについては盤により多少異なる場合があります。)
