    室内楽へ編曲が好きでガーシュインは珍しいので購入しましたが、シニカルというかニヒルというか人をくった感じはスッカリ無くなり単純に楽しい音楽になっている気がします。ピアノもうまいんですけどジャズっぽくないというか優等生というか…。この編曲でクラシックに入れるのは一寸微妙な気がしますが、逆に何も考えずに楽しく聞けるので、クラシック敬遠気味の方にはオススメかも？です。

    現在、我々がよく耳にする《ラプソディ・イン・ブルー》は、ガーシュウィンの死後に、グローフェがオーケストレーションを行なったもの。 作曲者の生前に演奏されていたのは、初演版かそれに準拠するジャズ・バンド版であった。 このCDは、初演版を初めて録音したもので、しかもガーシュウィンが遺したピアノ・ロールを独奏として、それにジャズ・バンドが演奏をつけているという点で非常に面白い。 もっとも、ピアノ・ソロ曲として作られたピアノ・ロールなので、途中で早すぎる部分があるものの、オリジナル・ジャズ版を普及させるきっかけになった録音なので高く評価したい。
