プログレは（このＣＤのジャンルはシンフォニック・ロック）ジャケットのアートワークの良し悪しで半分は決まるというが、このレトロポリスは、まず、ジャケットがカッコ良い。シンコーミュージックで出ている「ユーロ・プログレッシヴ・ロックガイド」の本でフラキンを知って、「フラキンの作品はどれもグレードが高いが、まずは本作から始めるべし。」と書いてあり、これをまず購入してみた。フラキンは現代プログレの最高峰というだけのことはある。クリムゾンのようなメロディーも出つつ、サウンドが美しい。何度聴いても飽きの来ない作品に仕上がっている。日本で、もっと、フラワーキングスが有名になっていい。

ｼﾞｪｽﾛﾀﾙ風味のｼﾞｪﾈｼｽと言ったﾄｺﾛか｡1曲目はZappa風ﾎﾞｰｶﾙも登場して面白い｡5曲目は｢I know What I Like｣､8曲目はﾂｶﾐが｢The Battle Of Epping Forest｣で､締めが｢Lamia｣ｴﾝﾃﾞｨﾝｸﾞのｷﾞﾀｰｿﾛ｡ﾗｽﾄの曲の｢Spectral Morning｣を彷彿とさせるｴﾝﾃﾞｨﾝｸﾞが極めて美しい｡
