The follow-up to MAI is a very special album. People think that Eri Sugai is the Japanese Enya and there were some similarities on MAI. However, I hear more on this album, which is full of inventiveness and sophistication. My favourite tracks are the opening offering ”Voyage To Asia” and the wonderful ”Teinsagu Nu Hana”, but all eleven tracks add up to an almost perfect album, where the voice is the most effective instrument and shines through with beauty and grace. One of the best albums I have ever bought! ”Mai” had the same effect on me that Enya had when I heard her for the first time. The multi-layering of Eri Sugai’s voice, the classic mix of ”east meets west” music, the use of wonderful eastern instruments, the haunting completeness of the melodies....all add up to one of the most intriguing and original albums I have ever heard. Great does not describe this album - this is sensational.
