    「SNAPSHOTS」に続くMembranの現代音楽作品集。タイトルはCD5に収録されているBENT LORENTZENの作品からとられている。 音は第１集同様、抜群である。非圧縮SACDに負けない。軽々と出て実にスピーカー離れがいい。 CD6は武満徹追悼集として武満のほか久田典子、新実徳英、福士則夫など４人の日本人作曲家で占められていて、好感が持てる。 ただ、私のような打楽器好きには、第１集同様打楽器の出番が少ないのが残念である。現代音楽は打楽器の活躍あってのものではないかとさえ思っている。 とはいえ、無機質な作品の多い現代音楽の中で、このシリーズはメロディーを軽視しない曲がほとんどで、聴きづかれしない。 たとえばCD9は、RUDOLPH SIMONSENという作曲家の管楽と弦楽による３曲の四重奏曲で、スピーカーの存在をわすれるほど楽器の音がなまなましく、曲想が実に美しい。 最後のCD10は合唱曲だが、いま自分のいる部屋が一気に広がった気にさせられる。ステレオの魅力は、まさに広々とした開放感を味わうところにあったのではないかと再認識させられるのである

    芥川也寸志と新交響楽団のライブシリーズの一枚、ショスタコーヴィチの交響曲第４番に、中国の管弦楽曲を集めた物です。 ショスタコーヴィチはこの録音が実は日本初演なのだそうで、このような難曲をアマチュア・オーケストラが日本初演していたとは驚きです。 色々とアラはありますけど、それを上回る熱気で乗り越えていますし、芥川氏の解釈もまともな仕上がりです。 中国の管弦楽曲は春節序曲を聴けば分かるように、いかにもな作品です。 とにかく難しいとかそんな事はありません。 ライナーには芥川氏がショスタコーヴィチと対談した時の回想録が載っており、これまた貴重な資料でしょう。
