    ボロディンの室内楽は、美しく親しみあるメロディーの佳曲ばかりだが、とくに弦楽四重奏曲　第２番ニ長調は大傑作だと思う。第３楽章の夜想曲の美しさはたとえようがない。そしてこのフィッツウィリアム弦楽四重奏団の演奏もすばらしい。わたしが今まで聞いていたエマーソン弦楽四重奏団（ＤＧ盤）よりもずっといい。第１番イ長調もすばらしくいい作品だ。日本ではドイツ・オーストリー系の作品ばかり中心に取り上げられるので、国民楽派、とくにスラブ系の優れた作品が過小評価されているように思えてならない。ボロディンの室内楽ももっと評価されていい。このフィッウィリアム弦楽四重奏団の演奏は、ボロディンの傑作四重奏曲を親しむのに持ってこいのディスクだと思う。

    ここ近年のナクソスは過去に録音のある曲の再録音が進んでいるが、これもそんな１枚だろうか。 ボロディンの交響曲全曲を１枚に収めた物で、数々のアメリカ・クラシック音楽を積極的に録音してきた、G.シュウォーツと、シアトル交響楽団による演奏で収録されている。 演奏は良くも悪くも、アメリカらしい演奏であり、確かに金管は鳴ってはいるし、オケの技術も問題ないが、スマートで機能的、あっさりとしすぎているので、例えば第２番のような民族色の強い作品で、本家ロシア勢の演奏を聴き慣れていると、物足りなく感じるのも事実。 ただし、部分部分では良い所もあるので、まとめるとおすすめはしないが、買っても損はないのではないだろうかといった所。 録音は最新だけあり良い。
