幻想交響曲の中でも群を抜いて美しい。カラヤンの全盛期でアナログ末期の優秀録音、今、アバド盤、デュトワ盤を聴き比べてみたがカラヤンのすごさを感じた。１楽章の導入部、４楽章のド迫力、５楽章フィナーレの見事なまとめ方、どれをとっても帝王カラヤンだ。ただひとつ、このＣＤのジャケット写真はいただけないオリジナルの不気味な鳥が横向いている写真のほうがいいのだが・・・これと同様にＤＧのガレリアシリーズでヨッフムの「カルミナ・ブラーナ」を所有しているが、やはりそっけない。イメージは大事ですぞ。

トリスタン＆イズーを大いに気に入ったので、アンサンブルカルペディエムの他のアルバムも聞きたくて購入しました。ナレーターが話しつつ歌が入るという流れなので大筋トリスタン＆イズーと同じ構成なのですが、本アルバムではナレーターが正直邪魔に感じました。トリスタン＆イズーはランベール・ウィルソンなので、比べるのは酷ですが、一本調子なナレーションで音楽と合っていないと感じました。なければもっと良かったのに…。よって音楽に集中できず曲のCDとしては一寸微妙に感じました。
