英国田園詩のような美の世界

SACDハイブリッド盤。第１次世界大戦の犠牲となった３人の英国作曲家の作品を集めています。
　ジョージ・バターワース[1885-1916]はその将来を嘱望されながら、ソンム戦役にて狙撃され、31歳の若さで戦死。アイヴァー・ガーニー[1890-1937]は詩人としても才能を示しながら、フランス戦線で毒ガスを吸引したことによる後遺症で精神を病み、後半生を精神病院で送りました。ヴォーン・ウィリアムズは従軍中に大砲で聴覚を損傷し、後に影を落としています。
　彼らの歌曲をワーグナー歌手として頭角を現してきた英国の俊英ジェイムズ・ラザフォードが美しく再現。詩の素晴らしさも含め、涙なしで聴くことができない感動的な出来となっています。（キングインターナショナル）
