Product Description

Digitally remastered and expanded two CD edition of the Norwegian trio's 1986 sophomore album, released to coincide with the band's farewell tour. a-ha may have seemed to come out of nowhere when they released the worldwide hit 'Take on Me' in '85, but the band's roots stretched back to the early '80s. While the trio was unable to maintain a high profile in the U.S., they continued to record, tour and score hits for over two decades in Europe and Asia. While the band will take their final bow in 2010, their musical legacy will continue long after that last note has long faded away. Disc One features the original album plus three extended remixes. Disc Two contains 18 demos, alternate and live versions of the album's tracks. Rhino UK. 2010.

大ヒットした『ハンティング・ハイ・アンド・ロウ』に続くセカンドアルバム。前作とは打って変わって、シリアスな歌詞、ハードなメロディ、硬派なバンドサウンドと、『テイク・オン・ミー』路線を期待すると、肩透かしを食らうが、敢えて大ヒットした語の彼らの選択の潔さを感じる！『アイブ・ビーン・ルージング・ユー』はカッコ良過ぎ！

80年代のa〜ha。 乱暴に彼らのキャリアをそう区切るとすれば、今作がベストだと言えると思います。 つまりは。。。「Take On Me」において万人に圧倒的なPop感覚で受け入れられてしまった揺ぎ無い事実という１面。 と相反する1stアルバムが持つ「大衆性」を多少犠牲にしてまでも、アーティストとしてのアイデンテティ（＝a〜haという記名性）を確立したいという１面。 その両面を互いにギリギリのバランスで実現しえたという事実の面が、もっと評価されるべきでは？と個人的に思うからです。 1stシングル「I’ve Been Losing You」のソリッドでロックで適度に大人な感じ、という絶妙なバランス感覚は、DURAN DURANが「ノトーリアス」といアルバムを実現したのと等しいくらい、本当に絶妙だったと思います。 フェアウェル・ツアーで最後に日本でもその雄姿を残して活動を終えるのですが、願わくば「Take On Me」で有名なa〜ha、という誤った認識が時とともに少しでも浄化される事を祈るばかりです。

ファーストよりもセカンドの方が質が高いです。曲、ボーカル、アレンジ全てがソリッドでクールな仕上がり!確実にスキルアップしている内容で、ヨーロッパではこちらの方が評価されているみたいです。2.3.5など、名曲がズラリ!最高です。
