A Scott Walker and David Bowie-inspired collaboration between the Arctic Monkeys' Alex Turner and the Rascals' Miles Kane, the Last Shadow Puppets began when Kane's previous band, the Little Flames, toured with the Arctic Monkeys in 2007. Already friends from prior gigs together, the pair started writing songs that spring, and headed into a French studio late that summer with producer/drummer Jame

'08年発表｡音楽を自分で作ってみたい--そう思ったことのある人なら､このﾗｽﾄ･ｼｬﾄﾞｳ･ﾊﾟﾍﾟｯﾂのやり方は参考になるに違いない｡ｱｰｸﾃｨｸ･ﾓﾝｷｰｽﾞのｱﾚｯｸｽ･ﾀｰﾅｰと､大親友でﾗｽｶﾙｽﾞのﾌﾛﾝﾄﾏﾝ､ﾏｲﾙｽﾞ･ｹｲﾝによるこのﾕﾆｯﾄは､なにしろｽﾀｰﾄ地点として｢ｽｺｯﾄ･ｳｫｰｶｰの"ｼﾞｬｯｷｰ"みたいな曲を作ってみたい｣という思いがあったのだとか｡たしかに､ﾃﾞﾋﾞｭｰ作『ｼﾞ･ｴｲｼﾞ･ｵﾌﾞ･ｼﾞ･ｱﾝﾀﾞｰｽﾃｲﾄﾒﾝﾄ』では､ｼﾞｬｯｸ･ﾌﾞﾚﾙの曲をｶﾊﾞｰしていたころのｽｺｯﾄ･ｳｫｰｶｰ的なあでやかさもあれば､ﾃﾞｳﾞｨｯﾄﾞ･ﾎﾞｳｲのﾒﾛﾃﾞｨやﾊﾞｶﾗｯｸ風の軽快な曲まで､様々なｻｳﾝﾄﾞが22歳ならではの目線で現代にﾘﾊﾞｲｽﾞされている｡ ｱﾚｯｸｽは今回､ｱｰｸﾃｨｸ･ﾓﾝｷｰｽﾞではできない｢60年代ﾎﾟｯﾌﾟｽの音作り｣を存分に楽しんだようだ｡ｺﾞｰｼﾞｬｽなｽﾄﾘﾝｸﾞｽや壮大なｺｰﾗｽなども取り込んだ音からは､新鮮な横顔が見え隠れする｡ ﾛｯｸにとらわれず､広い目線で音楽を見つめるさまも､頼もしい一枚だ｡
