タイトル曲が平和を歌うものであるため、アルバム全体もそんな感じで受け取られがちですが、さまざまな曲が含まれています。おまけに豚と戯れる写真が付いているように、ポール(RAM)へのあてつけのアルバムともいえます。「ハウ・ドゥー・ユー・スリープ」はあてつけソングであり、ジョージがギターを弾いているので正当なあてつけという趣。「真実が欲しい」でのジョージのギターは名演といえます。これらの重い曲に混じって「ジェラス・ガイ」などの美しいラブソングもちりばめられている。「オー・ヨーコ」は好き嫌いは分かれるかもしれませんが、ハッピー・エンドで締めくくる感じで、ラストを飾るにふさわしい曲と言えます。

この２００２年盤は、オレの「ミート・シティ」（笑）が、リミックスされてしまいギターが後退し違う音になってしまった・・・。何か吹っ切れない、ジョンにしては消化不良の末の頭でっかちのようなアレンジの曲が多い「マインド・ゲームス」で、ラストに大爆発するロックンロールが「ミート・シティ」だった。炸裂するジョンのシャウト、ぶちまけられるディストーションたっぷりのギター、レゲエとロックンロールが交差するジョンらしい凝ったリズム、ブレイク後のサイケ（！）なエフェクトなどなど、もう、わいわいガヤガヤの賑やかなロッカー、ジョン・レノンの本領発揮のナンバーなのである！誰も言ってくれないので、オレの「ミート・シティ」（笑）と書かせていただきました。失礼しました。ブックレット等は愛情溢れる作りですし、他の曲はそんなに違和感なく聴けるのですが、でも、この２００２年盤はお勧めしません。
