Black And Blue -
取り敢えずやりたい事を全てやりつくした、という感があるこのアルバムは、一般的な評価としてアルバムトータルで見るとやや散漫に写る様だ。しかしその分個々の楽曲の仕上がり具合は半端でなく良い。捨て曲なしで、ロック、ソウル、レゲエ、ジャズの全てのファクターを満足している。大量のゲストを迎えて作られたので、本物のストーンズサウンドではない、という批判もある様だが、それはそれ、良いものは良い。特に”メモリーモーテル”はストーンズ史上最高のバラードだろう。エンディングのハーヴィー・マンデルのギターはこのアルバムのゲストプレイヤーの演奏中で最も美しいとしか言い様がない。

Dirty Work -
完全にギター中心の楽曲（シングルカットされたＭ３はキーボードがリズムセクションの役割を果たしてはいるが）群であるからか、キースが前面に出ている。（ジャケットもそう）アルバム作成時期は、ミックとキースの仲が最悪の状態だったらしいが、バラバラという感じは全くしない。完全なレゲエであるTOO RUDEや、ベースが入っていない（！？）とされる HAD IT WITH YOU 等、このアルバムならではの楽曲も秀逸。更にこのアルバムの特筆すべきは、キースの歌うラスト曲のSLEEP TONIGHTと、そのあとに短く入っているイアン・スチュアートのピアノ・ソロ。このアルバムの発表前の年に亡くなったイアンへの友情と愛情の証とも言うべきこの短いチューンが何とも言えずカッコいい。
