Wall-
これまでも”Wall”のデモ集は幾つか耳にしていたが、今回の音源で、各曲がどうやって完成していったのか、その過程がかなり理解できた。初めて聴いたものもあり、結構びっくりしたものもあった（まだここでも明らかにされていない音源もあるが）。つくづく感じたのは、このアルバムが芸術家ロジャーと、音楽家ギルモア＋エズリンの対立（あるいは協調）の産物としてここまでの完成度に達したということ。ロジャー主導の初期の音源はある意味独りよがりだったり、偏執的すぎたりするが、それをよりコマーシャルな形に翻訳していこうとする後者二人の貢献度の高さが容易に伺える。一方、ロジャーには歌手としての技量はないのだが、作家性が高いためnarrativeな歌い方は他に追随を許さず、ギルモアさえ、時に平凡に聞こえてしまう。内容的には、以前松浦理英子が指摘したように、「オタク的な青臭さ」が充満しているのは否めない。でも、ロックって、所詮は妄想的白昼夢と不安の間で悶々とした１０代のための音楽なんだから、それで十分だと思うわけで。現実に打ちひしがれてうつ病になりかけた４０〜５０代のための優れたロックなんて、殆どお目にかかれないし。彼女はその時Princeの”Purple Rain”と比較して批評していたのだけど、今となってはそっちの方がよっぽど気恥ずかしかったりする。音楽としての”Wall”は今でも聴くに堪える質と力強さを持っています（ちなみにギルモアはあるライブでとても良い”Purple Rain”のカバーをやってました）。

当時はよせばいいのにと思ったものだが、案外悪くないと見直したデイヴの力作。それにしても最新のリマスターらしいが97年のキャピトル盤よりショボいぞ。次の「対」は良いんだがなぜだ?
