スペシャルズは、白人と黒人の混合グループであるのだが、当時は、人種偏見の風潮がまだ残っていて、グループの存在自体が社会的に問題視されていたという記事を読んだことがあります。私には、人種問題がいまいちピンとこない話でしたが、社会環境が日本とはちがうんだと感じたものです。さてアルバムの内容ですが、まづ古さと新しさが同居したような感覚につつまれます。ロックであることは、確かなのですが、レゲエ的のリズムが入っているので奇妙な感じでもあります。無国籍サウンドともいわれましたがそうかもしれません。でもリズムにキレがあるので何回聴いても飽きません。今の感覚からは、少し変に感じるかもしれませんが、聴きこめばそのよさがわかります。
