Pal Waaktaar and Magne Furuholmen, formerly of Bridges formed a-ha in the early '80s. Morten Harket joined the duo, and they left for the now legendary London flat (so called because of its state of disrepair) to make it. 輝かしき80年代のポップスサウンドの中でもとりわけ、この「A-HA」には特別な思い入れが詰まっている！本作は85年に発表された彼等のデビュー作にしてヨーロピアン.ポップスの最高傑作！！何よりもデビューシングル＃1「TAKE ON ME」の軽快なドラムビートに印象的なキーボードの旋律が重なり合う出だしのイントロ部分を聞いた事がある方は多いのではないだろうか？ 当時の全米では「MTV」が音楽をビジュアル面で配信（プロモビデオを流す）する事が主流だった時代で「TAKE ON ME」のビデオはアニメーションと見事に融合した凝った作りもあいまって全米1位、全英2位、を記録する大ヒットシングルとなった！ここ日本においてもメンバーのルックスの良さばかりがクローズアップされること無く、モートン（Vo）、ポール（g）、マグス（Key）の真の実力の高さが正当に評価され女性ファンを中心に絶大な人気を誇っていた！当方も高2だった88年の夏に彼等の3rdアルバムに伴うツアーを愛知県体育館にて観たのだが、今でも忘れられない思い出のライヴになっている！ライヴには欠かせない＃1、＃3、＃5、他、素晴らしいポップチューンが満載でとりわけラストを飾る＃10は彼等の歴史の中でも最高の名曲だと思ってます！今回、本作発売より25周年を記念して未発表曲を20曲以上収録したボーナスディスクが付いて3500円程度の安価でデラックスエディションが手に入るのでファン以外の方にも自信を持ってお勧めしたい作品です！！
