‘68年の結成以来現在に至るまで長い歴史を誇るイエスだが、圧倒的な統率力を持ったリーダーが不在であったことから、その間のメンバー・チェンジは激しく、複雑だ。オリジナル・メンバーはジョン・アンダーソン（vo）、クリス・スクワイア（b）、ピーター・バンクス（g）、トニー・ケイ（key）、ビル・ブラッフォード（ds）の５人で、’69年に イエス・ファースト・アルバム でレコード・デビュー。
