商品説明

Following the success of Wall Of Funk's debut album, Vital Hiatus, inspiration set in to play as many Midwest shows as their combined schedules allowed. Their popularity grew through live shows and airtime on local Internet radio broadcast by Jimmy K, now known for his show on Max Ink. After winning the 'Bastard of the Day' competition, the funk metal power trio scored the opportunity to work with Megatone Studios and the notable engineer/guitarist Paul Schluter. The guys decided to utilize the free studio hours to record only the drum tracks, and achieve the birth of their new EP, Sometimes Life, with their own independent efforts. The four songs were already in mind far before Wall Of Funk's existence, when bassist Lennon Baker and guitarist/vocalist Joe Marsden were but young, experimental teenagers and just started to write them in their first band. After forming Wall of Funk by adding Cal Lamore as a drummer and maturing as songwriters and musicians, eight years later the songs can finally surface incorporating a melodic and creative instrumental side to their distinctive funk metal fusion. While maintaining the Wall of Funk sound and edge, this EP adapts a blues and experimental essence influenced by Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd. The album reflects the concept that while 'sometimes life can bring you down,' to 'let your mind grow' from the negative ordeals and strive towards your full potential with personal goals. 'Maybe That's What's Wrong' starts off fading from feedback into a dynamic blues-rock song. The second track lists 'Illusions,' a groovy progressive metal song which calls on lost generations to pursue a different perception in life; to leave behind negative constraints, whether narrow-minded views or suppressive people. The final two tracks conclude with a more mellow tone, still showing off the band's instrumental musicality and creativity, as well as the disc's message as a whole. Overall the album is derived from an optimistic approach, and also promises a skilled and powerful musical composition. From a slamming kick-start to the inspiringly beautiful end, the songs draw you in with as much vigor as the efforts put in to making them! Catch the release party for Sometimes Life on August 31st at The Regent Street Retreat to experience Wall Of Funk's passion, energy and talent.
