Even though the members of the band have been individually active in the local underground scene since the nineties (in bands like Ataraxie, Mhonos, Hyadningar, Void Paradigm),La France a Peur is their very first record as a band, released by Avantgarde Music on CD format. The members of the group are Nehluj (guitars and vocals), Nekurat (bass and vocals) and Nemri (drums and vocals). The record consists of 7 tracks balancing between mid-tempo tunes and ultrasound blast - beats. Their music is cold and the feelings they create throw you in a black hole. Everything is in a state of anarchy. The atmosphere is dark, grim, and dismal. The bass lines are distinctive, clearly hears, which as a matter of fact, is a very pleasing feature. Contrary to what some of you may expect, the drums are not loud and deafening. Pounding snares, soft, stable kicking in slower tracks, faster d - beats and blasts on quicker songs. Everything is in great proportion. The vocals on the tracks seem to come from a torture dungeon, where a deranged soul is being tormented. It is profound that this is a great work. All instruments are played with high skills. You can see that the band uses many ideas perplexed in their own spectrum. For a debut album, it is surely promising as the talent in making unique music is profound. Hopefully they'll keep on releasing such records.
